Marina Del Rey, CA: 950 Acres of Lower Ballona Watershed by Docs 389 and 780

In 1954, President Roosevelt's River and Harbor Act, Public Law 780, funded the creation of a public small boat harbor, beach expansion, parks and bird sanctuary on 950 acres of what was Ballona Wetlands.

Federal matching funds allocated for the dredging and construction of the marina, were used, with the 1954 intent of creating a public marina for access to all at a reasonable cost.  It's written in the public law.

Millions of dollars were spent to dredge the channel,
widen beaches 450 feet for 5.5 miles, create a small craft harbor,
give access to fishing, swimming, recreation and wildlife for the people of LA.

US Public Law 780 requires reasonable rates with equal access for all.

Fracking and Ground Water: Protecting Ground Water

Protecting Clean Potable Water is the Central Issue.

At some point in the not too distant future we will need to choose between FOSSIL FUELS and WATER for farming, drinking, cooking, bathing, flushing the toilet, putting out forest fires, etc. Who knows how many open, unlined pits there are or the amount of illegal dumping or pumping is being done?
